1. Solar Panels Solar panels are made of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight to direct current electricity (DC electricity). As long as the sun ray’s are making contact with your roof, your panels are converting solar radiation into DC electricity. And if it’s cloudy out? Don’t worry, your panels will be working hard rain or shine. But your electricity isn’t ready just yet—you’ll need an inverter to get the kind of power you need to turn the lights on.

Stand.earth , a Bellingham-based group, used almost 10,000 cups to build a giant monster and wall in Sodo to protest Starbucks' alleged lack of environmentally-friendly cups. "(Starbucks) uses 8,000 cups a minute, every minute of every day of every year. Eight-thousand cups are going in the landfill because in most places around the world, Starbucks cups are not recyclable,“ said Jim Ace, Corporate Campaigner at Stand.earth.
To characterise a process, data is a necessity. In the absence of data, important parameters of a process are not tracked, their significance cannot be evaluated and their behaviour over the course of time cannot be understood. Here’s a graphic showing Why useless data is worse than no data You can read the whole article here. The post Infographic: Why Useless Data Is Worse Than No Data appeared first on Ambisense.

Sunrun Makes Solar Simple You’ve heard that the price of renewable energy continues to drop.1 It’s hard to separate fact from fiction these days. And when you’re faced with big decisions – like purchasing home solar panels – you need reliable information. We’re here to give you that information. At Sunrun we know that creating a smart home is a big decision.
Knowing there had to be a more affordable way to bring clean energy to the people, we invented solar leasing and power purchase agreements, or PPAs. So instead of waiting years for a return on your investment, most Sunrun customers see big savings in just the first year. The difference between a solar lease and solar PPA is simple: With a lease, you pay a fixed monthly “rent” in return for use of the system.

With the first wave of the energy transition, renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind) have begun replacing coal power generation. However, some sectors are lagging behind and struggling to decarbonize more than others, including large-scale transportation like commercial aviation, shipping, and rail transit. Electrofuels (aka eFuels) are the next generation of solutions to help the hardest-to-abate sectors pivot from their reliance on fossil fuels.
Tiered utility rates are a structure in which the more electricity you use, the higher your rate gets. You are allowed a certain amount of power (kilowatt hours) in each tier. Once you've exceeded the amount in the tier, you move into the next highest tier. The lower tier rates are affordable and the higher tier rates are very expensive. In many cases, we'll recommend a system that only offsets only your expensive tiers to help you maximize your savings.
Learn about how TOU Rates and Brightbox™ can work together “TOU” is short for Time of Use electricity rates. These rates are set by your local utility and they vary by time of day: more expensive during periods of peak demand and less expensive during low demand periods. For instance, TOU rates would be higher during hot summer afternoons or nights when people tend to use their A/C more.
