With the first wave of the energy transition, renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind) have begun replacing coal power generation. However, some sectors are lagging behind and struggling to decarbonize more than others, including large-scale transportation like commercial aviation, shipping, and rail transit. Electrofuels (aka eFuels) are the next generation of solutions to help the hardest-to-abate sectors pivot from their reliance on fossil fuels.
. The hospitality sector has made a call for clarity from UK water companies around their requirements for the disposal of fat, oil and grease (FOG). A need for the progression of national standards on grease management equipment was also highlighted at the European FOG Summit 2022, which brought the water and hospitality sectors together in Liverpool, UK, last month. .
The need to quickly increase EV battery testing capacity is making validation labs harder to manage and forcing engineering teams to explore ways to sustainably scale up their test lab operations. From few to dozens of test cells, managing power from the battery cyclers is one of the main challenges that impacts lab efficiency, CO2 footprint, and operational expenses.

Even the best water filters let some things through, but designing improved materials and then testing them is time consuming and difficult. Researchers writing in a recent edition of ACS Central Science – a publication of the American Chemical Society (ACS) – say that AI could speed up the development of promising materials. In a proof-of-concept study , they simulated different patterns of water-attracting and water-repelling groups lining a filter’s porous membrane and found optim
