Toyota to Test Hydrogen-Electric Hybrid Van in Australia Toyota Motor Corporation has announced its plans to embark on public road tests for a new hydrogen-electric hybrid HiAce van in Australia next spring. This initiative marks a significant step in the evolution of clean energy vehicles , potentially positioning the HiAce as one of the world’s first commercial vehicles powered by both a hydrogen engine and an electric motor.

Sweden-headquartered EV charger manufacturer GARO reports that a recent survey of 500 EV owners in the UK found that they would be willing to pay £10-20 more per charge to reduce waiting and charging times by up to 15 minutes. The percentages of those willing to pay more were 55% in Cardiff, 49% in Northern Ireland, and 17% in southwestern England.

Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri has taken delivery of eight electric EV Star passenger vans manufactured by GreenPower Motor, a company that produces a variety of high-floor and low-floor electric medium- and heavy-duty buses, shuttles and vans. This more than doubles the august institution’s fleet of five EV Star vans, which it acquired two years ago.

The Canadian government is investing 18.6 million Canadian dollars ($13.3 million) in EV chargers across the country. “The installation of these chargers will help EV drivers get to where they need to go with confidence and ease,” Natural Resources Canada said. Energy solutions provider Genie Energy has closed on a loan financing for a portfolio of operating solar generation assets. The $7.4 million fixed rate term loan secured through National Cooperative Bank (NCB) provides project financing for a solar array portfolio rated for an aggregate 10 MW. The arrays, which Genie purchased through its Sunlight Energy subsidiary during the past year, provide power to educational facilities in three Midwestern states through direct fixed-price solar PPA.

National Renewable Solutions (NRS) has closed on $145 million in project financing for its Shallow Basket Project, a 140 MW solar and 50 MW storage project located in Rio Arriba County, N.M. The project is under construction and is expected to be operational next year. NRS developed the project and will continue to own and operate it. Deutsche Bank provided the construction financing.
