Heat pumps are essential for ditching fossil fuels. The appliances are many times more efficient than even the best gas furnaces, and they run on electricity, so they can draw power from renewables like wind and solar. But the very thing that makes them such an amazing climate solution is also their biggest challenge. A common refrigerant called R-410A pumps through their innards so they can warm and cool homes and offices and anything else.
Clean energy trade body American Clean Power Association (ACP) has released a battery energy storage system (BESS) safety framework outlining key actions and policy recommendations for the industry.
Sponsored by Starline. JE Dunn Construction, one of Americas largest general contractors, decided to install an electric vehicle charging station in the parking garage next to its world headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. JE Dunn faced the following challenges when designing the infrastructure to support the charging stations: Installing power panels on the EV charging station walls would have been costly, disruptive, time-consuming, and very visible to drivers and pedestrians in the garage.

After about 20 years of scant growth, U.S. electricity demand is expected to grow about 15-20% in the next decade and double by 2050, according to the Department of Energy. In light of these predictions, more than 80 U.S. energy experts met at Stanford in February to discuss how to avoid the U.S. electricity grid being overwhelmed by rising demand. This meeting, which was organized by the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability's Precourt Institute for Energy, has resulted in a report focused on

With the first wave of the energy transition, renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind) have begun replacing coal power generation. However, some sectors are lagging behind and struggling to decarbonize more than others, including large-scale transportation like commercial aviation, shipping, and rail transit. Electrofuels (aka eFuels) are the next generation of solutions to help the hardest-to-abate sectors pivot from their reliance on fossil fuels.
As Washington State faces a multi-billion dollar budget deficit during this legislative session, tough decisions about funding will need to be made. Our elected officials are currently deliberating potential new revenue sources and cuts to the state budgets.
