With the first wave of the energy transition, renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind) have begun replacing coal power generation. However, some sectors are lagging behind and struggling to decarbonize more than others, including large-scale transportation like commercial aviation, shipping, and rail transit. Electrofuels (aka eFuels) are the next generation of solutions to help the hardest-to-abate sectors pivot from their reliance on fossil fuels.
Exclusive: Reliance on fossil fuels fell in August to less than one-fifth of all electricity generated across country Great Britain’s electricity system has recorded its greenest ever summer after growing numbers of wind and solar farms cut the need for gas power plants to fresh lows. Analysis of energy generation data, commissioned by the Guardian, revealed that Britain’s reliance on fossil fuels fell in August to less than one-fifth of all electricity, or 4 terawatt hours (TWh), its lowest eve
How can science help OEMs to meet electric vehicle safety regulations and improve cooling system reliability? This webinar will look in detail at how engineered fluids and polymers can help OEMs to meet these new regulations. Presented by Lubrizol, a team of experts will discuss how dielectric fluids can be used in place of water glycol fluids in cold plate cooling systems.
Oxford PV has started the commercialization of its tandem solar technology with the company’s first shipment to a U.S.-based customer. The 72-cell panels, comprised of Oxford PV’s perovskite-on-silicon solar cells, can produce 20% more energy than a standard silicon panel, the company says. The panels are slated to be used in a utility-scale installation, with the hope of reducing the levelized cost of electricity and contributing to more efficient land use by generating more electricity from th
When it comes to trucks, whether they are used for long-haul freight, construction, or agriculture, the engine is the heart of the vehicle.
