Henkel Adhesive Technologies , a maker of automotive adhesives, sealants, thermal materials and functional coatings, has extended its portfolio of solutions for EV battery systems with a new injectable thermally conductive adhesive. Henkel says the new product has already been adopted by a major EV battery manufacturer.
The design of electric vehicle battery packs may vary among manufacturers but commonly, the battery is attached to its cooling plate not only with fasteners but also thermally conductive polymeric materials called gap fillers. However, the high adhesion values also pose a challenge if the battery needs to be disassembled.
Charged is organizing a virtual conference on EV engineering September 1 – 3, 2020 that includes live webinar sessions, interactive Q&As, on-demand webinars, and whitepaper downloads. New session topics have been announced (with more coming soon) including speakers and presentations from: New sessions announced Register now.
With the growth and development of battery pack technologies, manufacturers of electric vehicles (EV) place greater emphasis on pack design optimization, seeking more compact solutions to improve energy density and reduce cost. In the assembly of high-voltage battery packs , dielectric protection is critical.
The increase in EV usage is also a challenge for electric utilities to manage the large loads resulting from re-charging EV batteries. The utility could pull power from a charged battery back to the grid to supply power to another vehicle to reduce peak demand. Utilities are investigating two vehicle-to-grid technologies.
In these electric vehicles, long ranges and high horsepower require high power density from their electrical components such as batteries, motors and generators, and the power electronics needed for operation. During each thermal test, the temperatures of the inductor and cooling plate were recorded using an Omega Soft data logger.
As the electrification of heavy-duty or commercial vehicles gains more acceptance, charging larger batteries than the ones in electric passenger cars increases in importance. Modern battery technologies and cutting-edge power semiconductor solutions allow the design of highly efficient infrastructure.

In the case of EV batteries, this gap can be anywhere from 1-3mm due to packaging requirements. With battery packs, a gap filler is dispensed on top of the cooling plate and the batteries are placed directly on top of it. Thermal efficiency is further reduced in these applications. Sponsored by WACKER.
For example, crash-worthy adhesives that bond body and battery components along with performance polymers and thermal interface materials that safely manage battery temperature. Safer, cooler, and longer-lasting batteries. EV batteries must be crash-durable for safety. Operation outside this range can strain batteries.
However, some of the data has also contributed to other projects, such as Marsh et al’s ‘ Warm winters and cool springs negatively influence recruitment of Atlantic salmon ( Salmo salar L.) John adds, “ The long battery life and robustness mean that I can confidently leave the loggers in place for a whole year with no concerns.
Download now Highlights 💰 2024 investment: Venture and growth investment in 2024 totaled $30bn, down 14% from 2023, much less than the previous 24% drop, showing the sector settling into a new normal. Nuclear returns to power while batteries run out of charge Autos stay strong in Transportation, but a shake-up is coming.

Jury is out on whether investment will keep cooling or heat back up.
How healthy is your battery pack? As the EV ecosystem develops, there will be an increasing need to measure and manage the performance of battery cells. It has also developed a platform that can simulate the real-world performance of different cells, and can evaluate the state of health of existing battery packs.
In the case of business customers, profiles included energy usage and time of use by appliance for heating, cooling, lighting, refrigeration, and always-on. The data analysis further identified appliance-specific, non-operating-hours usage and on-peak usage as key commercial customer insights. After all, that’s just good business.

Helping to Cool Down Asia The heat arrived early across Asia and continued through the summer. Download Executive Summary The post AutoGrid Responds Across the Globe to a Summer Like No Other first appeared on AutoGrid. We also currently have behavioral demand response (BDR) programs in Spanish, Chinese, and English.
With this comes a surge in electricity use, mostly from cooling systems. Decentralizing Energy Production for Resilient Grids One significant initiative launched by ERCOT last year is the DER Pilot Program , which allows Texans with solar and battery solutions to contribute excess energy to the Texas grid during periods of extreme weather.

This includes but is not limited to reformers, crackers, vaporizers and battery systems. Why bother with hydrogen in the first place? Advantages.
AES will source its energy from a portfolio of wind, solar, hydro, and battery storage that optimizes for cost efficiency and additionality. The use of renewable can be seen in day to day life basically in four areas electricity generation, air and water heating and cooling transportation and rural(off-grid) energy services. Sources of Energy A substance that is converted by process into usable energy then the substance is called source of energy.
While current wireless EV chargers can supply up to 20 kW to charge batteries in four to six hours, future wireless chargers will deliver 100 kW and be able to increase battery charge state by 50 percent in under 20 minutes. An advanced topside cooled package simplifies thermal management.
