Some oxides of nitrogen are not GHGs but they do perform a role in the formation of tropospheric ozone which is a GHG. For example, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has a GHG emissions reduction strategy to reach net-zero by 2050, including a 20% reduction by 2030 and a 70% reduction by 2040, compared to 2008 levels.

This will get us to 100 per cent renewable energy as fast as technologically possible, not by distant dates of 2050, 2040 or 2030. The Act follows the model of the most successful environmental treaty - the Montreal Protocol, which banned CFCs and HFCs, and is healing the hole in our ozone layer. It's just a question of when.
